The story began with Kåre Ingvald Kyrkjebø, born in 1926, who after completing his education at the carpentry school in Lunde, specializing in furniture design, established his workshop shortly after World War II. With a vision of excellence, Kåre not only built a business but also a home, completing the Kyrkjebø family house in 1950—a lasting symbol of his dedication and skill.
Equipped with precision machinery from renowned German and Italian manufacturers, the workshop quickly became a hub where timeless furniture and interiors were crafted with care and expertise. Each piece reflected Kåre’s unwavering commitment to quality and his deep respect for the art of woodworking.
For Gudmund Kyrkjebø, this passion for craftsmanship was instilled from an early age. As a boy, he spent countless hours in his father’s workshop, absorbing the techniques and traditions that would later define his own work. By the age of 14, he was already gaining practical experience in furniture-making and cabin construction. In 1994, Gudmund took over the family workshop, dedicating himself to continuing its legacy.
Since then, Kyrkjebø Snikkarverksted has continued to deliver handmade kitchens, furniture, and interior pieces – all characterized by meticulous craftsmanship and bespoke designs.
