Kjerag

The spectacular Kjerag is a mountain that towers above the Forsand municipality in Rogaland county. The 1,110-metre (3,640 ft) tall mountain sits on the southern shore of the Lysefjorden, just southwest of the village of Lysebotn. Its northern side is a massive cliff, plunging 984 metres (3,228 ft) almost straight down into the beautiful Lysefjorden. A famous location for BASE jumping.

The Kjeragfossen waterfall plunges off the mountain down to the fjord. The 715-metre (2,346 ft) long waterfall cascades down from the Kjerag plateau on the south shore of the Lysefjorden. It is one of the highest waterfalls in the world.

Wedged in a mountain crevasse, 989 metres above an abyss, sits Kjeragbolten. It has become a popular tourist attraction for its beauty and wonder. It is waiting for those who are brave enough to step out onto its surface. The famous boulder is a challenge that many visitors embrace!

Best Time to visit Kjeragbolten

The hike should only be attempted during the summer months, between June 1 and September 28. During the winter months the road is closed due to snow and the hike can be dangerous. Snow can cover the roads and the trails through the end of May.

The Kjeragbolten hike is one of the most spectacular hikes in the world.
